" Related to book design: This book is an excellent example of a "lap book" due to its extra large size/shape and the huge double page spreads and large, illustrations, both close up (mostly) and panoramic. " said.

" Loren Long's illustrations are, as usual, absolutely stunning. Julie Fogliano's accompanying text/poem, however, is only okay. Five stars for illustration plus three stars for text divided by two is four. " said.

" Poetic text meets whimsical illustrations in this hauntingly beautiful book. With imaginative verses like "if you were a bird / and i was a tree / you'd call me home / and i'd call you free", this book explores relationships in nature and relationships between people and nature. " said.

" The illustrations in this book are beautiful, and match the words of the poetry so well. For kids who would be attracted to this book, I think it would take more than one read to truly embrace and understand it.This would be great as a bedtime read or a teacher read aloud. " said.

" Very cute children's book. I can see this book quickly becoming a favorite amongst the young crowds. I know the resident five-year-old loved it. The illustrations were gorgeous and the words were perfect to whisper at bedtime. Rating: Five StarsTime to read: maybe ten minutes " said.

" A lovely rhyming book with lines like this: "if you were a bird and i was a tree, you'd call me home and i'd call you free". Grammar hounds will be bothered by the lower-case "I" and it should be "If I were" but not to worry; it's a poem, just the way e.e. cummings would like it! You'll see a moose, a worm, a whale, deer, geese and a cozy home. Great for bedtime or storytime. " said.

"I am kind of obsessed with this new picture book. It is poetic and beautiful in a way that feels epic. The verses pair partners in nature - like winter & spring or sunshine & day - and talk about relationships. The illustrations are stunning in a frame worthy way and full of animals which is always a hit with my kids. This is thoughtful and soothing. I think it makes for a perfect bedtime story despite only briefly mentioning night. It draws you in, settles over you like a blanket and leaves you with a calm feeling. Can you tell I really like it?! " said.

"Overall, very heartwarming. A larger book but meant for one-on-one sharing, an adult and child curled up together on the couch or sharing at bedtime. It starts with daybreak (endpapers light blue) and ends with bedtime (endpapers dark blue). Connections, relationships are throughout. The artwork is gorgeous. I like the poem but the grammarian in me wants the phrases to be 'I were' not 'I was.' It should be the subjunctive, not past tense, of 'to be.' Picky, picky but it threw me off while reading." said.
