" Another exciting and fast-paced instalment, with a number of interesting new characters introduced. I sometimes wish the books were longer, so they could take more time savouring the world building and character development. There's so much packed into each book... " said.

" I read the 1st book in the series but skipped the 2nd book before reading book 3 (this book). Mostly because I got a copy and couldn't wait to start. The visuals are great and the story line is interesting and fun to follow along. I think you can pick up any book in the series and quickly get up to speed on the story.I received a copy of the book. " This book was fantastic! Definitely my favorite so far; it felt like the plot ran smoother somehow.I really love how this series approaches multiple heavy concepts. Things like group-think, corporate greed, and the subjugation of minorities is tackled in a way that still keeps the story smooth and understandable for younger kids while still hitting those heavy notes for older readers.Plus, the art and characters are great. I'm really loving this series! " said.

" Another great volume in this series! I still love the art and color palettes. I enjoy that each volume brings us to a new planet to explore. New surroundings, new political climates, new enemies and allies. I love the three main characters and how supportive they are of each other. They all get a lot of page time too. Can't wait for more! " said.

" After dealing with war and racism in Book 2 the 5 Worlds team tackles subjects like media manipulation, rigged elections, and unsustainable monoculture (not to mention the nature of the human soul) in this beautifully illustrated third volume of the PERFECT middle grade graphic novel series. I cannot praise these books enough whenever kids or parents come into the bookstore asking for recommendations. " said.

Another gorgeous, amazing, wonderful read in the 5 Worlds series. This is just such a great all around series. I love the characters, love the story, and, most of all, love the artwork.

There are plenty of twists and turns in the third book, making for a splendid reading experience, complete with new characters, new issues, and new creative solutions.

I really can't get enough of this series and am really looking forward to reading the fourth book to find out what happens next. Great read!

"Another solid installment!

And wow! A puppet leader. Forcing propaganda on the masses. Making a bogeyman of a group of people. Undermining democracy by rigging elections. Could we get any more real life? (view spoiler)" said.

"The Red Maze is easily the most focused entry in the 5 Worlds series so far, although it's far from perfect. Instead of a mad tangle of world-building on multiple planets with dozens of characters, we have our main trio (Oona, An Tzu, and Jax) working towards the lighting of Moon Yatta's beacon. Sure, there's a smattering of politics, the reappearance of the Mimic, and a new mentor character who can teach Oona fancy tricks. Sure, none of this is properly introduced or explained. It's still great fun and brilliantly illustrated.

I feel like I should be marking this series down for messiness, but the mess here indicates more to me that the authors simply have too many big, cool ideas, not that they're poor writers. At least, that's what's keeping me going. *shrug*
