" I thought this was really cute, but over all I just felt it was average. The artwork was cute and simple, and the plot was done well over all. I did quite like the pace. The main character was quite sweet and the message was cute. It just really felt like a very average book in general and it would not be a top recommended book. " said.

" A good resource story used with explaining metamorphosis. This caterpillar is hurrying the process and his impatience with building his chrysalis and waiting the time it takes to change is funny. I think little listeners would love this story and want to hear it over and over again. The illustrations are big and green and silly and the caterpillar's self-talk is fun. " said.

" Pretty funny, if slightly annoying. (It's meant to be obnoxious, but that doesn't really make it bearable...) It's a good lesson on patience with a bit of science tossed in - waiting for things is important if you want it to be done right!(But also, maybe, waiting until you're ready to try something instead of just following your friends?) " This book is a hilarious 50th anniversary tribute to The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. Readers will make text-to-self connections as the caterpillar finds it very hard to wait. The basic facts of the butterfly life cycle are reviewed. Bright cartoon-like illustrations and humorous dialog add to the enjoyment. Read first of all for fun! Tie-in with 1st grade study of butterflies. " said.

" I read this with my 10 year old son and we had a lot of fun with it. We made funny voices and we were able to give the caterpillar some really great personality with the text that was provided. At first I wasn't so sure about the title of this one as it was so close to the famous Eric Carle book but this text is totally different and full of fun personality. The illustrations are bright and colorful, bringing a lot of life to the story. " said.

" If you haven't picked this one up, you definitely should! This was such a fun read and I love that you're actually learning the process from caterpillar to butterfly (who knew it took TWO whole weeks for this impatient caterpillar!) Definitely planning to purchase of a copy of this one to have around whenever I need a laugh.I think this would be the perfect introduction to a 2nd-4th grade unit on caterpillars in a classroom! " This book so cracked me up. I was filling in for the art teacher at our school and used this book for the class of kindergartners. They were laughing right along with me. This book will be available at our upcoming book fair at the end of February and I wanted to go ahead and read it. So what better way to do so then when filling in for a teacher who is out. The comments of the caterpillar as he is waiting to turn Into a butterfly are so funny. " said.

"We've been raising monarch caterpillars at my library this summer. Sometimes, the new chrysalids wiggle, and it's tempting to wonder what the liquified innards are contemplating.

I like the lesson on patience. I love that this butterfly doesn't have a serene or fluttery disposition. I wish the illustrations could be more scientifically accurate about what happens when a caterpillar pupates. I know goo doesn't have a face that will convey feelings ... but a chrysalis isn't a shell for a caterpillar.

1 star removed for baldly inaccurate science. Otherwise, a fun and funny case study.
