"Alexander and his friends, Nikki and Salamander, are trying to solve a mystery. Strange things are happening in their town, this time involving disappearing machinery and metal parts, along with scary creatures showing up and wreaking havoc on the town. Though this particular book can stand along in order to have a true understanding of how this mystery began it is important to have read the first book as this aspect is not covered in this 2nd title. There are certainly hilarious moments in this story which help to balance the scarier parts." said.

Thank you to @scholasticinc and Troy Cummings for sharing a review copy of Boa Constructor (The Binder of Doom, 2) with the #KidLitExchange Network. All opinions are my own. The Binder of Doom: Boa Constructor will hit shelves on September 3, 2019. Pre-order your copy now.

A creepy machine bat makes its way into Alexander's room one night and steals a wind-up key from one of his toys. He and his friends, all members of the Super Secret Monster Patrol, then begin to notice that other mechanical parts are going missing all over town. The three set out to discover what monster is behind the thefts and foil its evil plans.

Boa Constructor is the 2nd book in The Binder of Doom series and is also part of Branches, Scholastic's young readers line. This book is hilarious and full of adventure. I really enjoyed the focus on STEM themes: building machines, construction careers, and maker camps. The story is engaging and the characters are vibrant. Young readers are sure to love Rip and his hilarious antics. Just reading the table of contents lets you know you're in for a delightful and funny adventure with titles like The Headless Duck, Lefty and Lumpy, and The S.M.O.O.S.H.E.R. The chapters are also the perfect length to encourage developing readers to begin reading on their own. With all of the puns and onomatopoeia words in the book it would also make for a fun read aloud.

We are big fans of The Binder of Doom after reading the first book a few months ago so we were so excited to get the chance to read the second book! “The Binder of Doom #2: Boa Constructor” by author/illustrator @troycummings, is just as fun as the first book! Alexander, Nikki and Rip have another monster to defeat. This time the monster is stealing machine parts all over town. The kids think they have the mystery solved but it turns out they have the wrong person pegged as the monster. Can the friends figure out who the real monster is and stop it before it destroys the city? Full of laughs, mystery and some engineering! Both my daughters give it five stars! Look for this book when it releases on September 3, 2019. For ages 6-8.
