" this is a GREAT book! though cheating a little for a reading "challenge." Buy it for the cute verses, for the good information, and for the artwork by Mark Anderson. " said.

" Just something fun from the Book Fair. Gabe and I agree that the dog on the cover definitely looks like Spot. " said.

" I would have given this book 4 stars, except that there were no collies or shetland sheepdogs anywhere in the book! Very nice illustrations, though. " said.

" Several of the watercolor illustrations capture the energy and whimsy of the dog breeds that are featured. " said.

" This picture book is a decided improvement upon the similarly themed W is for Woof. I was jumping for joy that in this book, "A" stands for "Adoption," complete with information about animal shelters! Hooray!Unfortunately, not every page is illustrated, which is a real shame, because the illustrations are a lot of fun. " said.

" This is an alphabet book, using dogs, with cute little rhymes and charming illustrations. Along with the alphabet, it includes information about dogs--popular breeds, basic care, and behavior. It's bite-sized information for kids, with more information for older readers in smaller (but not small) print below the rhyme. It's a lovely book, to read to your kids, or to leave out on the coffee table to enjoy the art. "I was disappointed in this book when I opened the cover and saw that the illustrater didn't bother to do illustrations for every letter of the alphabet . For instance ..... L for Labradors ... no illustration . Labs are very paintable dogs ! Q for quarters .... no picture instead only stating " Dogs must have theur own : Sometimes a couch is as good as a throne ." Wonderful oppertunity to picture a dog lounging on a couch !!! R for runts .. another missed picture ! All in all there were eight letters that were not illustrated . I felt cheeted . What ones there were were delightful . Mark Anderson is a very good artist / illustrator , however I was quite shocked to see that he had copied almost as a direct tracing the photo of a Great Dane and a Chihuahua from Tim Flach's lovely book , DOGS . Then used this on the cover .

"I have just finished reading For The Love of Dogs: An A-to-Z Primer for Dog Lovers of All Ages. It was terrific. Any notion that this excellent book is just for kids is missing the point. This book truly is for Dog Lovers of All Ages. My husband and I were laughing as our teenage daughter came into the room. We were all captivated by the illustrations and the love it was transmitting to us. Kudos to all of you authors!
