"Have you ever been so close to a cow that you can see little droplets of water on her nose? No, she doesn't have allergies, but rather she sweats through her nose of all things! That is a really funky, freaky fact you can impress your friends with. In this book there are all kinds of oddball facts about animals you may have not known, let alone even guessed at they are so strange. Another known fact about a cow is that they "give more milk when they listen to music" and "some cows show a distinct liking for Mozart." Hmmmm, I wonder if they would enjoy your kind of music?

This book's chapters include interesting facts on animals' physical characteristics, where they live, their eating habits, how they move around and their sleeping habits. Here's a weird one for you . . . "Two-headed snakes are sometimes born. The two heads fight over food, even though it will go into the one stomach they share. When they are really angry, they might try to swallow each other." Imagine that. There are really some unusual things going on in the animal kingdom!

This is a very amusing, interesting and fact-filled book, but keep in mind that these "facts" are one liners, wonderful for the trivia buff and the child that enjoys being amused, but they are not expounded upon. These facts will get the reader thinking and are great to get the reluctant reader to stick his nose in a book and keep it there for a while. In the back of the book is a glossary, a lengthy index and additional wacky facts type books. Did you know that "baby chicks dream inside their eggs?" Now just who figured that one out!

"Don't expect a huge book or you'll be disappointed. This little treasure is only 40 pages long but has a glossary and chapter titles that divide the subject matter appropriately. I bought this as a reward for a 4th grader who i work with in a therapeutic capacity. He loves all things nature, especially knowing weird things about animals. This being so i figured this book was right up his alley. in a few short seconds i learned a couple of interesting facts that made me think "huh thats kinda cool" and i plan to tell my boyfriend later. For grownups its the weird stuff you would tell someone at a bar after a few too many, for kids its the stuff they will tell everyone they meet, and be proud to know. I think i have made my point that its a cool little book, full of fun facts, and definitely something i would recommend buying." said.
