" I would use this book with Cock-A-Doodle Quack! Quack! and the other animal noises books that we have. It has an abrupt ending, but I liked the additional detail of the sheep choir (as well as their posture when they are trying to cock-a-doodle-doo.) " said.

" Every day, those poor roosters wake up before everybody else, to wake up everybody else. But do they really have too? I mean, Rupert the rooster can sleep in just one day, can't he? For more great Picture Books for little guys, see: " said.

" Not only did I love this book, but what’s more important my kid loves requesting this book just before his naps. Rupert the rooster is tired of having to wake up every morning and do his “cock-a-doodle-do!” wake up call. His best friend Sherman the sheep volunteers to help. So Rupert sets out training Sherman how to do his job. However, things don’t work out as planned…. Great story! " said.

" This book made me laugh and laugh, so my husband picked it up to see what it was all about. After he read it, he said, "This speaks to you on many levels." It's a cute book about friendship and doing your best. The comic timing is perfect and the illustrations are clever and lovable. This is a great book for story time, and when you're not reading it aloud, you may read it yourself again, just for the smiles. " said.

" Rupert the rooster is tired of waking up earlier than everyone else so that he can "cock-a-doodle-doo" them awake. He has to set 6 alarm clocks to make sure he is up. His best friend Sherman offers to do the job for him. But he dreams its morning and ends up waking everybody in the middle of the night. It was ok - the story was only so-so and didn't really draw me in. Too much text for it to work at a young child storytime.sheep, rooster, farm, morning, wake-up " said.

"Rupert the Rooster thinks it's unfair that he has to be the one to get up with the sun and wake everyone else up. His friend Sherman the Sheep agrees to do the job for him. Unfortunately, Sherman wakes up in the middle of the night afraid he messed up and enlists his whole herd to do the morning call. This results in the farmer in the trough, the bigs in the hen house and the cows eating the pancakes...pure chaos. Rupert realizes only he can do the job right and takes it back. This is a fun story. I loved the illustrations, especially Rupert teaching Sherman to crow. " said.

"Rupert the rooster is just not a morning person. He doesn’t think it’s fair that he has to get up before everyone else, and who can blame him? Certainly not his pal Sherman the sheep, who volunteers to take over Rupert’s job. Unfortunately, Sherman is so stressed out about waking up that he bolts awake in the middle of the night and enlists his whole herd to holler out “BAABA-BAABA-BA-A-A-A-AH!” The farm awakens with a jolt and everyone attempts to go through their morning routines, half asleep and in the dark. Pure chaos: the cows are in the kitchen, the farmer’s in the horse trough, and it’s all Rupert’s fault. Sharp cartoony ink drawings with lots of color complement the action-packed text. It seems a shame that Rupert is the only man for the job due solely to his species, but he resumes his duties cheerfully and with a newfound sense of responsibility. Combine this with Bawk and Roll by Tammi Sauer and Bill Martin’s Barn Dance for a lively farm-themed storytime. —Paula Willey

" This kid's book is both funny and meaningful, teaching that chores might not be fun, but are important. It also teaches that an individual's contribution can help in a way no one else can.I liked the page where the cows run into the kitchen and eat all the pancakes. My almost 2-year-old loved that the book is huge. I think ages 2-6 would enjoy this book. " said.
