" Great for reading aloud, predicting text. The pictures work well with the text. " said.

" Almost more of a joke book than a story. " said.

" A funny look at why it'd be hard to read to various animals. I liked the reasons and the puns. They were pretty amusing. Illustrations were okay. " said.

" My boys gave this 5 stars because "the boy said have you ever read to an animal before?" and "if you read a story to a hippopotamus, he might want to sit on your lap" and other funny animal reads. " said.

" I think the concept had a lot of potential, but the execution sort of fell flat. " said.

" I thought the concept was great-- reading to different animals and discovering challenges-- but the writing was not as interesting or satisfying as the premise. " said.

" Wonderful concept, but the book itself was dull. " said.

" I was thinking, as I was reading, that this would be a perfect read-aloud for the beginning of the year. An opportunity to get children writing, for sure, with a prompt of pick-an-animal-and-why sort of thing... and then I looked in the back of the book, and the publisher has a contest to that effect! How cool. I'm absolutely doing that with my third graders next year. " said.
