" Great book for beginning reads! " said.

" My kids love this book. There are lots of opportunities to make sound effects. It's a fun read. " said.

" Some easy readers stand out because they offer a story AND fun while building reading skills. This book is one of those titles...the reader takes a steam train trip with the bears that makes learning to read more exciting and fun! " said.

" A nice early-reader experience with the BB. This one is just a fun adventure, without any of the morals or learning experiences found in the regular BB books. (Not that the morals are bad in the regular BB books, I enjoy that too.) " said.

" An early reader book - the problem with this book is it is outdated. Steam engines where coal is loaded is a thing of the past and it is hard to explain it to a 3 year old. Cute illustrations and the friendly bears but totally not suitable for 2013 " said.

"My 4-year-old likes most of the Berestain Bear books but he wasn't as interested in this one. He's not really into trains so maybe that was part of it. It's classified as a "Beginning Reader 1" book meaning it has simple sentences for eager new readers. It was a little harder than I expected. Most beginning readers that I know would rather have less sentences per page than this book has.

This taught a little bit about trains. The engineer drives the train, the conductor makes sure the train leaves on time, coal is thrown into a fire to make the train go, and at the end of the train the red caboose is a little house on wheels where the conductor lives.

"The Bear family is going on a trip, and not just a simple trip but one with a distance. On this trip to visit family, you will go through bear country and see the different places that they go past. I have learned by now to not expect too much realism in children's novel, but this one did make me giggle at the unrealistic things that they pasted.

I enjoy the Berenstain Bears, I have always liked the lessons that they taught growing up and now I enjoy teaching them to my own children. I will always recommend these stories, even if some of them don't make since sometimes due to the easy-to-read plans. You cannot go wrong with this bear family.
