" I read this book with a group of my fourth grade kiddos. Some of the time context was hard for them to grasp but we all really enjoyed it. I also liked the message about war-- good lesson for kiddos. " said.

" I really enjoyed reading this book, especially with my 3rd grade Book Club. The kids absolutely enjoyed this book because they thought it was humorous, suspenseful, and many of them could relate to the story/had background knowledge. This story built confidence in many of the readers and now a few of the students want to read other books by the author! " said.

" I read this book with my fourth-grade reading club, and in the end they all voted it 'ok'. I thought it was fairly well-written (from the point of view of a 10-year-old), but the 'war' wasn't as fun as I thought it was going to be. I ended up feeling sorry for Grandpa most of the time, and felt that Peter was a bit of a brat. Also, the ending of the book was very unsatisfactory for me. " said.

" I'm going through my old books to weed out some to give away/sell. I don't need to own some of the kids books anymore, but am reading them one more time before letting them go. I think my class read this book in 5th grade. A quick read- I liked that the book was framed as a story that the protagonist was writing as a school assignment. " said.

" This book was a horrible book. Fighting about a room? Get real people! Peter was a major brat and his grandpa let him getting away. I hope that this will not be recamended to anyone in my family. It was a boring to read. I want to never read it again. I want to never see it again. I do not get the whole point of fighting over a dum boring room the had no meaning. In conclution I think this was a dum book. " said.

" I really enjoyed this book. Good humor and light reading w/heart-felt meaning.I read this book during lunch on a rainy day and had an very enjoyable lunch.I like the word, "enjoy" and "enjoyable".Being a Grandparent, I try and think of ways to entertain my Grandson and I definitely would not like to go to war w/my Grandson! :0)Gave me new and old ideas of how to have fun with him without it being a chore for either of us.Reminded me of things that I did w/my grandfather. " said.

" The kids enjoyed listening to this book (as soon as we finished it they asked to listen to it again), however, I (as a parent) took issue with some of the messages it conveyed. After finishing the book, we talked about the evils of "entitlement" and about how sacrifice brings blessings. There were other "good" messages in the book, but I was glad we had read it together so we could discuss it afterward. " said.

" This is a book published in the 80's but if you can get passed that you will enjoy this book with your children. I read it as a read-aloud with my daughter's and we had a blast. This is a book for kids by the way.The book is written from an interesting perspective by a boy as an assignment for his teacher, but it's very candid and funny. Amazing how far this little boy will go to be at war with his grandpa. " said.
