Part of the Food Is CATegorical series. This nonfiction picture book focuses on oils, though not actually a food group, and explains why they are needed in the human body and how much is advisable in our diet. The rhyming text makes learning fun and is surprisingly clear. However, I disagree with the advice to use margarine because we now have evidence that they are not easily digestible or good for us, despite the lack of trans fats. Other than that, this book serves as an excellent dietary guide for young readers. The cartoon-like art style also adds to the kid appeal of the book and helps to make the education more interesting for children. The illustrations provide excellent visual support for the concepts presented in the book.
