" #83 in School Library Journal's Top 100 Picture BooksI love Bear. The rhyming and rhythmic text is so fun to read. The sounds and movements of each animal as they come into Bear's den is unique along with the lively illustrations. The constant, just like Bear, is the phrase, "But the bear snores on." It is so sweet how the animals repeat all the wonderful things they did while the bear was asleep so bear can have fun too.Perfect for read alouds and story times. " said.

"This was my first Christmas as a grandmother, and naturally I looked for suitable board books for the new addition to the family. I buy books online so I don't have to carry them around, but this was difficult this time, because Amazon won't tell me the whole text of the book. Sure, for a novel I can understand this, but for an infant's book with not much more than a couple dozen lines, it seems stingy to limit the reader to the text of the front and back covers and one other page.

I have to tell you, then, that this is really charming. There's an ABAC style rhyme and although baby won't know a lot of the words, it doesn't matter, because infants pick up English as much due to lilt and cadence as by vocabulary. The art is full page like you see on the cover. And maybe most importantly, it's a fun enough book that if it turns into the IT book--the one Baby wants to read every single night for a couple of months, for example--you won't object, because it's so much fun.

Recommended for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers, and the grown-ups that love them.

" Our second Bear book (we got one free in a box of Cheerios). Very cute. " said.

" This has always been one of my favorite children's books. I love the pictures and all of the animals. " said.

" This is one of Ryder's favorite books, and it's fun for me to read, too. He cracks up when bear wakes up. I have it memorized because we read it so much. Love it!! " said.

" I love this book! It's a good read-aloud for a bear theme, or talking about hibernation, or winter, or just for fun. I've also used it as part of a book pair with a nonfiction book about bears when we talk about the difference between fiction and nonfiction---compare/contrast, KWL chart, etc. " said.

" What would you do if you woke to find your friends were having a get together without you but right you are, sleeping? Confused, disgruntled, angry, sad? Maybe all of the above. I guess you will have to read this picture book to find out. Written by karma Wilson, illustrated by Jane Chapman and published as a Margaret K Elderberry book.#animals #PB #cave #party " said.

" A really great story with wonderful pictures!!! There are a lot of different things that could be done with the story including making or using puppets to help tell the story. We also get to see how friends come together and fix a wonderful meal and share once the bear wakes up! Also I am pretty sure that the children will love pretending to snore just like the bear in the story! " said.
