" Lots of good information about Pompeii and Vesuvius here. Low stars for the quality of the writing, though it is an "early reader" book, not literature. Emma was fascinated, and the interest came as a result of the Magic treehouse book about Pompeii. " said.

" Pompeii… Buried Alive! is an informative and interesting look into "city" life at the base of the most famous volcano of all time. This is perfect for students not quite ready to stray from the comfortable realm of picture books. " said.

" This is a wonderfully illustrated book about Pompeii. Students will enjoy this informational text and remain engaged throughout learning about this awful disaster. Great for third and fourth graders learning about natural disasters. " said.

" A nice telling of the Pompeii story and how the city was discovered by archaeologists. Used as a reader and it has phonetic spellings of some of the harder words for those early readers. Nice illustrations! " said.

" This must be one of the best early readers around, at least if your kid is scientifically oriented. My son is totally fascinated by this book, it's such an amazing story. The pictures are really helpful for understanding what happened. " said.

" I loved this book. I think it was a really good book. People died and they did not know they were going to die. People had slaves. People died because they did not know hot lava was coming for them. " said.

" This book has the perfect amount of information for a basic introduction to Pompeii. It covers everything from how the citizens were unaware that Mount Vesuvius was a volcano, to the initial earthquakes, through the various stages of the eruption itself. It then goes on to tell how Pompeii was buried and lost for centuries, and then discusses the rediscovery and the beginnings of the excavation. " said.

" This is a Random House Step Into Reading Level 4 Book. I very much liked that the phonetic pronunciation of difficult words was given. It has short paragraphs and great illustrations to help with comprehension of this event. It is part history, part science, and part archeology and is an excellent book for children who can read on their own. " said.
