"I loved science fiction as a kid, and I still do. Back then, there was precious little to read if you were 10 or 12. I remember loving "A Wrinkle in Time", but science fiction for teens and young people in general was pretty sparse. I hope that this book is a sign that things are changing.

When I was young, the best cartoons were something the whole family could watch and enjoy together. Walt Disney movies captivated children and adults alike. This book reflects those times and qualities, probably because it is co-authored by a young man and his grandfather. I haven't met them, but the loving partnership shows in the story they have created.

This book is a perfect book to read to your younger kids--you will enjoy it, too. Or give it as a gift to an older boy or girl--science fiction isn't just for boys! Too many of the reviews mention boys will like this story. I know the main characters are boys, but I don't feel that limits its appeal. The characters' experiences span both genders. We are past the day when girls have to read only Nancy Drew, and boys have to read the Bobbsey Twins. Girls will easily recognize the truth of the characters' personalities, and they will identify with their concerns, fears and attitudes.

It's a delight to find a well-written science fiction story aimed at the teen and pre-teen reader. Too many kids don't read. Books like this will get them reading again. And not to be a spoiler, but the ending definitely leaves the possibility for a great followup story.

"I loved the plot because it involved cybernetics. I liked Tommy 's expressions. It was an interesting book. It, however, contained several grammatical errors that looked like typos and poor editing. I'm looking forward to the sequel.
