My thoughts: THE BERENSTAIN BEARS' HOLIDAY COOK is a fun book for beginning cooks. I'm using this in my home school for home ec. My daughter made the fruit salad pictured above for a church potluck (and introduced church kids to kiwi, since they never had it or heard of it), the hot cocoa for a fun treat one day, and the pizza below for lunch yesterday. Both girls enjoyed using this, and would recommend it to homeschool moms and grandmas, Berenstain Bear fans and cookbook collectors. Makes a nice holiday gift for your favorite beginning cook! Colorful and friendly. Highly recommended. 5 stars.

My Review:

We love them Berenstain Bears so much. They are a great family that teaches awesome character values to children. Not to mention that there movies are very family friendly. They are an instant classic! What I have seen the of the cookbooks that are some of Mike Berenstain's latest additions, they are so sweet and my boys fight each other over them. They can't wait to try the recipes out.

Each of the recipes will require adult supervision and some of the more difficult ones will require more help from the adult rather than just supervising. I love the pictures of each of the recipes. There are some really delicious looking recipes to try such as the Sweetheart Chocolate Cake and the Easter Bunny Shakes. There are several holidays covered in this cookbook and each section of recipes is split up according to what holiday it falls under. There are 6 different ones covered. Valentine's Day, Easter, Fourth of July, Fall Festivities, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

Each section is headed off by commentary from the bear family and scripture. This book would make a perfect gift for any fan of The Berenstain Bears.

"The Berenstain Bears' Holiday Cookbook is 96 pages and features Berenstain Bear illustrations as well as photographs of meals, snacks, and desserts.

The cookbook is split into six different sections: Valentine's Day, Easter, Fourth of July, Fall Festivities, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Each section has a one-page introduction from the Berenstain Bears with one Bible scripture. There is a kitchen measurements chart on the last page.

The recipes includes:

Valentine's Day - Pink Party Popcorn; Red Bear-y Smoothie; Tomato Soup with Grilled Cheese; Lovey-Dovey Banana Bread; Yummy Chocolate Strawberries; and Sweetheart Chocolate Cake.

Easter - Carrot Chips; Easter Bunny Shake; Rabbit Food; Easter Ham Panini; Honey Bear's Favorite Mashed Potatoes; and Krispie Easter Eggs.

Fourth of July - Stars and Stripes Bites; Sparkling Raspberry Lemonade; Firework Fruit Explosion; Bear Country Pot of Beans; Celebration Sloppy Joes; Red, White, and Blue Banana Split; Freedom Trifle.

Fall Festivities - Tricks and Treats Trail Mix; Candy Corn Punch; Creepy Crawly Pasta Salad; Oven Roasted Corn on the Cob; Papa's Paw-Lickin' Good Chicken Wings; Carmel Apple Nachos; and Wiggle and Jiggle Gelatin Bites.

Thanksgiving - Grobbler Apple Muffins; Hot Apple Cinnamon Cider; Mama Bear's Turkey and Veggie Soup; Cornbread and Honey Butter; Stuffing with Cranberries; and Grizzly Gran's Famous Pumpkin Pie.

Christmas - Holiday Pinwheels; Cozy Hot Cocoa; Winter Sweet Potato Soup; Accordion Potatoes; Colorful Christmas Poke Cake; and Bear's Christmas Cut-Out Cookies.

Final Thoughts: This is an adorable cookbook that should appeal to kids of all ages. All the illustrations and photographs of the food are colorful. Some of the recipes are very simple to make, while others are a little bit complicated for kids, so adults will have to help out with the cooking and baking.

My favorite recipes from the cookbook are Cozy Hot Cocoa, Stuffing with Cranberries, Pink Party Popcorn, Lovey-Dovey Banana Bread, and Tricks and Treats Trail Mix.

Overall, The Berenstain Bears' Holiday Cookbook: Cub-Friendly Cooking with An Adult is a cute cookbook for kids (and adults).
