"This is an informative and well written book about water safety for young children. We are using it at our school for Literacy Lunch next year." said.

"A must read for children who use the ocean as their playground and even for those who are just going for a dip.
This engaging and educational story will keep your child turning its pages even if they don't surf.
The surfing definitions at the bottom of most pages allows any reader to fill part of this sport while the insightful added comments it's a reminder that knowledge is power. My 8, 12 and 14 years old have gained wisdom from this book.

"This book tells a great story and teaches about ocean safety too. Learn surfing terms and what to do if the waves are big. Young children will enjoy you reading this book to them. A must-have for all young kids who love the ocean!" said.

"This is a wonderful book for any child interested in the ocean. My son very much enjoyed the pictures and draws surfers on waves ALL the time. I noticed that the author has written a few others and plan to order them as well. Good book." said.

"If there is one thing I want out of life is to have my daughter surf with me. However, by reading this book, I got how important safety is to me. Sure, I want my girl to grow up surfing, but more importantly I want her to be safe. This fun and instructive book teaches her through a story how to deal with a rip current, the number one safety issue in oceans world wide." said.

"I learned to surf 3 days after arriving in Hawaii & over the past 2 yrs (yes, 2-4x/wk surfing) have encountered just about every situation Moe, his auntie, & mother encountered. I was very lucky my instincts (I've been swimming in the ocean since I was a 6 mo old baby) kicked in but for my 2 sons who I taught to surf at 7 & 9 don't always know if they're hearing your story or advice you give from your own mistakes. I watched as my now 10 yo eyes got big when I explained, "remember when mom said..." - here it is in the book - happened to others. Somehow, sometimes your own children listen better to others saying the same thing. Crazy mom insisting they can demonstrate excellent swimming skills to me by swimming on a team means they can easily swim a mile in open ocean -- they looked at me like it was overkill but I was adamant if they were going to surf on the outside w/ me & now seeing in the book the different reasons leashes break -- they are happy they are junior age group champions in swimming & tomorrow mom is going shopping for new leashes as ours are starting to get old - so I learned some new things like that you should replace your leash every year. The perfect book for bedtime after surfing all afternoon next to mom!! I do agree with the 1st reviewer -- a must read for everyone who uses the ocean as a playground & yet another good reminder to malama the ocean. So fun & believable...really gets the kids' attention!" said.

"I read this at a friends house with my son & had to get it! A great story for learning the ways of the ocean!!!" said.

"It had some writing from the author to a specific kid's name on the inside front cover. This was awkward and would have preferred to know of personal inscriptions. Not sure if others would feel the same...kept me from giving a 5 star rating" said.
