" Tis a serious ocean......True knowledge really does only come by experience......and always stay engaged.....two huge takeaways.......Very well done JK......you're a fortunate and talented guy " said.

" Essential tips and insights interspersed with exciting heavy weather tales. Highly recommended. " said.

" Highly technical, but interesting and useful. " said.

" Everything is great about this book except the fact that it's basically a series of blog posts printed out and bound together by cardboard and glue. Best for people who already know a bit about sailing because the author won't spend anytime filling you on on the basics. " said.

" Half vital information, half great stories with a point to be made. This is one of my favorite authors. He writes in this book with such honesty for the mistakes he's made so that the reader can learn from them. The flow is unique, but not fractured at all. I think even non sailors would enjoy it! " said.

" I loved this book! Finished reading it just as I was about to take my first (and so far only) offshore trip, so, of course, every word was relevant, every piece of advice considered, every feature of the boat I was on compared to his ideal. His stories are sometimes funny, sometimes heart-stopping, always compelling. " said.

" A great read about getting into sailing. If you aren't familiar with sailing/nautical terms, this book will quickly bring you up to speed. The author shares a lot of stories about his favorite boats, places to sail and encounters on the ocean. It's like reading an adventure novel that also is instructive on open ocean sailing. " said.

" I liked the serious storm stories in this book and the sailing advice. I knew this was stories and lessons, but at times I wondered who this book was written for. It was probably too basic for serious cruisers with all the sailing language defined, and maybe too much information about how to sail for someone who just wanted to read sailing stories. The stories were well written, but the organization was a little distracting for me. " said.
