" I can't even tell you how much I love finding children's books written by literary powerhouses like Achebe. " said.

" This one seemed rather dark for a children's story. " said.

" A children's story with teeth and claws. It would be interesting if Achebe wrote a darker, visceral book for children. " said.

" Even though it's a picture book I found this is a story about politic and power struggle. Reminds me of Animal Farm. " said.

" Um... I didn't hate this book, but I did like the illustrations far more than I liked the actual story. And I wouldn't read this book to my six-year-old son. " said.

" A compelling animal fable with powerful political sub-texts from a post-Colonial perspective. " said.

" "In the beginning... This African folk tale is a story of unkindness, ambition, anger, and violence. I suppose it could have been a fascinating tale to watch on a stage, but it's a very unhappy one. " said.

" Unusual addition but important to the African folklore genre section. Part explanatory part political in nature. It is unusual to have a dog as the villain. I believe it would make a good reader's theater or with younger students; some form of creative drama. " said.
