" The story of Poke Salad Annie and her famous Ugly Pasta. " said.

" Me thinks someone has been watching too much Food Network! " said.

" Would've been a 5 star book had it not been for the Guy Fieri-lookalike. " said.

" Patricia Polacco does it again with a heartwarming tale of a woman who loses her husband and her happiness. A tiny kitten brings joy back and she finds her way back to the things that make her happy. " said.

" Once again, Patricia Polacco weaves a delightful tale full of surprises, fun, and abounding emotions. This lovely tale follows Annie Fetlock and her amazing Poke Salad! I highly recommend this book as a delightful story that will have you smiling, laughing and tearing up a bit as you read. " said.

" Everything good that every happened to Annie happened on a Thursday. Until the day her husband died, then nothing good happened again. Then one day a kitten appeared on her doorstep wrapped up in cloth towel that was embroidered with the word Thursday. She named the kitten Thursday and good things started happening again. " said.

" I thought this was a true story until the last page, when Polacco explains that it was inspired by her cat. (Which is sad, since I wanted to find the relevant episode of Guy Fieri's show to check it out!)It's a sweet story about pasta and its influence on a small town...or maybe it's about how cats make things better, or about how food is a conversation starter...Either way, it's a nice read.
