" A beautifully illustrated overview of the wide variety of ocean life, from surface to floor, that make up the vast majority of living things on the planet. " said.

" Love this book. I got it from the library but I am definitely putting it on my purchasing list. " said.

" Super cool. Start with a long view of the earth, then pierce the surface and see the animals at various depths of the ocean. Bright illustrations. Spoiler- it gets creepier down deep! Back matter provides further detail. " said.

" Genre: Informational Grade Level: PreK-2This book is a great book to show what kind of animals are in the ocean. The illustrations are very interesting and captivating. These make it perfect for young children who love the ocean or sea creatures. " said.

"Down, Down, Down: A Journey to the Bottom of the Sea by Steve Jenkins shows and explains the conditions at different depths of the ocean and the different animals that live there from the surface of the ocean to The Marianas Trench, the deepest spot in the ocean. The paper collage illustrations while simple are detailed enough to accurately depict many of the animals of the ocean. The unusual animals and intriguing facts about the earth’s oceans will draw in children in the middle and upper elementary grades. " said.

"This is a great book about the ocean. Steve Jenkins spends time explaining the creatures of the deep, since the ones who live at the surface already have a lot of exposure in so many other books. I also like that he explains that the ocean's depths truly are the last unexplored frontier on earth, since so few people have gone to the deepest places. This book helps children to understand that there is so much left of the ocean that we know nothing about. It is a great read before a day at the beach or a trip to the aquarium." said.

" Summary:
Down, Down, Down: A Journey to the Bottom of the Sea discusses the life of animals within the ocean and their lifestyle. This book integrates math and science together to focus on the different types of fish and the proximity they live in.

This book relays information about ocean life. The text also incorporates math into the text to discuss the distance the animals live and what their habitat is like. This book also has descriptive illustrations and labels each animal within the picture. As the book continues from beginning to end, it labels the distance and which area of the ocean it is within, also providing students with a spectrum of where it is within the ocean.

Teaching Idea:
I would use this book to focus on science standards, discussing the different types of environments animals live in. I would use this book to talk about different lifestyles of animals within the ocean and the types of environment and the depth of the ocean which each animal best lives in. I would also discuss micro-organisms and how they affect life, focusing on if they are harmful or beneficial.
