" I really do not like that this is a story about Jews who get confused between Chanukah and Christmas. Man, do I not need that. " said.

" My daughter celebrates Jewish and Christian holidays. This book was a nice companion to our mixed-up holiday traditions. " said.

" This book is really very clever. It brings the foolish people of Chelm and Christmas celebrations together. The people of Chelm are Jewish people surrounded and overwhelmed by the Christmas celebrations. I think the author handles this in a fun and delightful way, and allows the people of Chelm to relearn the meaning of Hanukkah. " said.

"Jon Koon's story is a modern tale of Chelm in which the foolish villagers of Chelm are left without their Rabbi at Hanukkah. Unsure how to celebrate the festival, they send a messenger to another Jewish settlement. The messenger becomes lost, and ends up instead in a nearby Gentile city, where he sees everyone preparing for Christmas, and brings some 'new' Hanukkah traditions home. It's a fun new folktale, and gently pokes fun at the sort of cultural assimilation that leads to the Hanukkah bush and Hanukkah Hershel, as well as Hanukkah presents for children.

And what better time to read the story of a confused Hanukkah than the end of summer?
