" My Christmas book of the day -- I have Swedish Heritage so the book was interesting in that respect for me. " said.

"It’s warm and cozy inside the house as the Svensson family prepares for Lucia Day, the Swedish feast day celebrated on December 13th. Mom, with help from the kids, bakes the traditional pepparkakor (gingersnap cookies) and Lussekatter (saffron buns). Dad helps get the costumes ready for the morning while mom prepares the crown. All too soon, it’s Lucia morning in Sweden and the sharing of traditions with friends and family begins.

Resources at the end of the book include the story of St. Lucia, pepparkakor and Lussekatter recipes, Santa Lucia song in original Swedish with English translation, and Lucia and Starboy gown patterns.

This is a very nice look at how a modern Swedish family celebrates Lucia Day. Very helpful if you are looking to add this Swedish tradition into your own family.
