" I loved that the book told the story in Chinese and English. " said.

" Told in English and Chinese, this story follows the journey of Ming as he explores the Forbidden City--and accidentally steps back in time! " said.

" An imaginative exploration of the Forbidden City from a visitor's perspective. Ming meets the young Emperor and gets a tour of his favourite places!Historical places and events can be difficult to absorb. Li Jian gives us an opportunity to have a intimate experience in this great ancient place.A wonderful book to read and learn about this great ancient city. " said.

"Ming is visiting the Forbidden City, when suddenly he finds himself back in time. He meets the boy emperor, they tour the palace, and they have an adventure on the bronze dragon together.

I liked the tour of the Forbidden City this book gave, and the way it made the palace's history come to life. Parts of the book are confusing though. After Ming is transported back in time, his half of the spread is in the past, and it doesn't tell you but if you look at the clothing of others, the other half of the spread is still in the present. Then it switches and for several pages, the entire spread is in the past. It could be a bit confusing, and does take a bit of careful attention to follow fully. For classes studying modern China, ancient China, or planning a visit to the Forbidden City, this is a good picture book. Chinese teachers and ESL teachers, the text is also in both English and Chinese characters, so it could be a good book for those who are second language learners.
