" This is a junior fiction book. Good book. Perfect for 3rd/4th grade readers to see into what the US was like in the 1850's. " said.

" This is a book about a boy who is a slave and secretly knows how to write and read. And he keeps a journal! I am waiting to get the 2 book so i read that too! " said.

" Great story. My fifth graders really enjoyed it and so did I. There are a lot of historical references to names and places. " said.

" I really am into reading the stories that are in our local school library and this story was a great introduction to a major part of our history it is a really good read. " said.
