"What a great introduction to art techniques, artists, and mediums! These projects are inexpensive, require little initial skill, explain learning concepts, list materials, and include step-by-step fully illustrated instructions, plus suggestions for ratcheting up for older kids. Most are designed for children ages 7 - 12. I was able to simplify selected projects for children ages 3 - 6. You'll seriously want to do them all!

The table of contents features a photo of the finished product which serves to both whet the appetite and find your project at-a-glance. The first three of the twenty-six projects are:

Crazy Cactus (using squeeze paint)
Abstract Cityscape (using tissue paper collage)
Fantasy Space Art (spatter paint, watercolor wash, oil pastels, and collage)

I'm definitely going to have to own this book.

" I kind of... loved this. Great for art class ideas. This one is geared towards children a little older than mine... so maybe 8 and up, but we still used a few of the ideas in this one with success. " said.

"After 3 weeks into a school year, my fifth grade student comes up to me with sad eyes and asks, "So we're not going to do any art this year are we?" My heart sank. It was my second year as a fifth grade teacher and, truth be told I was horrible artistically. I looked at her and promised I would try my hardest to provide art lessons. I began combing through teacher forums. I needed something that wasn't too primary in nature. A fourth or fifth grade teacher mentioned this book. If it were not for that student and this book, my classroom walls would probably without life and color. Highly recommend." said.

"This book was very helpful. I use this to formulate lesson plans for an art class. This cuts all the work from that. I would definitely recommend this." said.

"This book is incredible! I'm a K-8 art teacher.
I didn't want to spend the money on this book (as it is kind of pricey compared to similar art project books), but when I found it at my school, I decided I could have justified the cost completely! It is a wonderful book with really great projects! I love the depth of information (not just "draw a banyan tree, but "this is what a banyan tree is and a few cool things about it"), the color pictures, the spiral binding, the weight of the pages, and all the ideas! I taught a lesson pretty much directly from the book (rare for me) and during review, I was shocked at how much the students learned, applied, and retained! Not only is this book good for me, I think it would be good for teachers who "aren't really artists." If I move to a new school, I am definitely buying my own copy!

"After reading all of the customer reviews, I knew I had found a real winner. Wrong! There are not a lot of art projects, nor do they span a grade range, and who would take a class of 20 kids, trace with carbon paper and run water over it to cause the color to bleed? Very unrealistic. A few projects are dynamic, but for the most part this book is UN-Dynamic for the big price. I am requesting a return." said.
