" This book of poetry about dance will surely have you moving your toes. Features all kinds of dance with beautiful illustrations. " Kym said.
" This is a fabulous book that is just fun to read! The illustrations are stunning, highlighting multicultural diversity, and have a delightful sense of movement and enthusiasm about them. Each poem is for different style of dance, with numerous and varied dance styles throughout the book. Don't miss the author's note at the end with more background information about each style of dance that was highlighted. " Vanessa said.
" Glad it comes with a disc, because I feel like it really needs to have the music to "get" the idea behind the book. It's cool that all the poems share the meter of the dance they represent, but it's hard to get that feel just from print. Also, it doesn't help that I'm not a huge poetry fan, but I do admire what the author is attempting here.Illustrations are very nice. " Gorgeous poems - all written in tempo to match their accompanying dance style - so much fun to read aloud. Emma found the one about Polkas to be particularly hilarious! " Ireadkidsbooks said.
" Poetry and dancing fun for story time and children's programs. A welcome addition to poetry collections and as an introduction to world dance. " Angela said.
" Love the bright, colorful illustrations. " Kristan said.
"I am excited about this book coming out in the spring and will provide a full review later, but I thought it wouldn't hurt to review it sooner! I received this book in advanced form, so I wasn't able to review the CD, but I had fun reading the poems of Feel the Beat: Dance Poems that Zing from Salsa to Swing by Marilyn Singer. This book is a must-have for any kids who enjoy or are interested in dances. As an adult, it took me back to my dancing lessons with my husband before we got married. The book features numerous dances from the Argentine Tango to the Two Step. I imagine this is going to be a favorite among many children." Ricki said.
" Poems are enhanced by the author's reading on the CD. Also, don't miss the special treat that shows Marilyn and her husband dancing the Salsa on the "Salsa" spread! " Debbie said.
