The Rev. Dr. Jaroslav J. Vajda has been a Lutheran pastor for eighteen years, while concurrently editing youth and denominational periodicals. He wrote his first hymn at age 49, and has now written more than 200 hymns that appear in more than forty hymnals worldwide. He lives with his wife in St. Louis, Missouri.

Preston McDaniels studied music before turning to art. He is a free-lance illustrator and lives in Aurora, Nebraska. He is the illustrator of two other hymn books, Now the Day is Over (2000) and All Things Bright and Beautiful (1999), both from Morehouse Publishing.
