Book Introduction: With "God of the Sparrow" Jaroslav Vajda invites us to observe the wonders of the world around us and respond to the Creator of it all. How do we, as God's children, express our joy, love, faith, and sorrow? Basing his critically-acclaimed illustrations on this popular contemporary hymn, Preston McDaniels captures the remarkable beauty of all that exists-the lovely and the harsh-and helps children (and adults) offer thanks to God. An excellent book for parents, church school teachers, and pastors. Ages 3-7 years.

The Rev. Dr. Jaroslav J. Vajda has been a Lutheran pastor for eighteen years, while concurrently editing youth and denominational periodicals. He wrote his first hymn at age 49, and has now written more than 200 hymns that appear in more than forty hymnals worldwide. He lives with his wife in St. Louis, Missouri.

Preston McDaniels studied music before turning to art. He is a free-lance illustrator and lives in Aurora, Nebraska. He is the illustrator of two other hymn books, Now the Day is Over (2000) and All Things Bright and Beautiful (1999), both from Morehouse Publishing.
