" Easy chapter book about a little girl named Zoey who discovers that her mother help nurse magic creatures back to health. Zoey and her cat Sassafras eventually comes across a sick dragon. This book is great for science themed booklists because of the scientific methods used in the story as Zoey tried her best in helping the dragon. " said.

" This was so cute, had interesting science facts scattered throughout and was light/short enough for us to read in mostly one sitting, with characters she wanted to see more of. As an adult it wasn't a struggle to read, like some early readers can feel. There was still some interesting language, and a cute cast of characters " said.

" This book is a wonderful combination of science and imagination. My kids loved sweet Zoey and her cat, Sassafras. They rooted for her as she attempted to help her first magical patient, Marshmallow. The well paced storytelling kept them wanting more and wondering what would come next. I loved how Zoey models basic scientific skills and problem solving. A wonderful chapter book for young elementary schoolers. We can't wait to read the next one. " said.

" A former science teacher and kid lit author, Asia Citro, creates a girl character of color with inquisitiveness, love of science, bugs, and research. Zoey's mom, who is a professional and lover of science too, empowers her daughter with trust and passion for research. Marion Lindsay illustrates this story in a warm and friendly manner keeping the story linked to a enjoyable read for the early chapter book reader. " said.

"This series is so cute! I love how even though it's written as an early reader type of chapter book it doesn't have that stilted feel that so many of them do. So when I read it aloud to my daughter, the language still flowed beautifully. The story is fun and interesting, and I think it's awesome how the author incorporates the scientific method into the story. Real science with a fantasy twist! My 8 year old loved it. I already bought the other 2 books in the series and we can't wait to read them. :) " said.

"I really liked this story! Zoey is so adorable! She loves bugs and outside and science. She finds out that she is able--like her mother--to see magical animals. They come to their barn out back if they're sick or need help. Typically her mom helps them, but she goes on a trip so Zoey is on duty. A little dragon ends up needing her help and she has to design experiments to discover what's wrong with him. It's super cute and I'm excited to read the next one. Also, my 8 year old daughter loved it and there are adorable pictures in each chapter. Recommended." said.

"Zoey wears her Thinking Goggles on TOP of her head, so they are closer to her brain. Those thinking goggles come in handy when she finds out that her mom helps take care of sick magical creatures in the barn behind their house! It's perfect timing - since her mom is going away for a week, now it's Zoey's turn to help. When a sick baby dragon turns up, Zoey uses scientific theories and experiments to find out what's wrong and help the dragon get better.

Adorable, educational and fun; great for young readers interested in animals and/or science.

"I thought this was a wonderful tale about Zoey and her cat Sassafras (love the name!). There was a great mix of fantasy and real life science. Zoey helps her mom by watching a magic bell that brings fantasy animals in need of care to their house. Along the way she uses different aspects of the scientific method: observation, hypothesis, analyze, etc. in order to understand the world around her. She keeps her notes in her science notebook which, as a middle school teacher, was great to read about because our students use them in their science class as well! The language was easy to read and understand and will easily become a favorite among elementary and middle school students. " said.
