" A nice, if repetitive (but that's just how Carle writes) story of a click beetle learning to CLICK! and flip himself over on his feet from his back.Typical Carle illustrations - lots of bold colors and strokes. Has a little gimmicky clicking sound at the next to last page. " The Brothers said.
" Abby loved this one. I, found it rather creepy. It didn't have any of the charm of The Hungry Caterpillar for me. I guess there is a try, try again type of theme, but it didn't really resonate at all on my end. And that creepy noisemaker in the book, uncool man. I don't like books that make noise lol " Breon Randon said.
" This is a fairly simple book, but one that teaches the lesson of perseverance. Interestingly, it isn't until the click beetle is frightened that he is successful. The book is equipped with a battery to simulate the sound of the clicks the beetle makes. That is an interesting twist to the story. The drawings are classic Carle: very colorful and inviting. " Robert said.
" after the very hungry catepillar came the very clumsy click beetle. I like this book just because I like eric carle. as for the story itself, I am not overly impressed. it's about a young beetle trapped on his back and an older beetle trying to teach him how to flip back the right way again. I think kids will enjoy this book as a fun book to read. " Heather Ligman said.
" The Very Clumsy Click Beetle shows children that practice makes perfect. The wise old click beetle coaches the young click beetle on turning over instead of turning the young click beetle over himself, children will realize that this is the only way the young click beetle would learn. Great illustrations as a classic Eric Carle book. " Tara Mensing said.
" MY REVIEW:This is a cute little story and a great introduction to a neat insect. The storyline is simple, silly, fun, and entertaining. The pictures are bright and catchy as usual. The only "caution" is that if you borrow this book from the library, see if they have one with the working sound affects. It would probably make the story even more fun! " Mandy J. Hoffman said.
" This is definitely one of the Eric Carle books I've read before. It includes a special battery run clicking device at the end of the book which triggers as you turn the pages. The story is about a click beetle that gets stuck upside down. And he tries and tries to click/jump up the right way and keeps ending up on his back. Until the very end. A fun story. " this is about a little click beetle trying to learn about being a click beetle. He has an adult beetle watch him and tells him he'll teach him how to flip off his back and click. After he tries he falls, but he continues to try and as he does his friends all encourage him to try again until he gets it. And finally he does do it. And the book my granddaughter and I read the last page made a 'click' sound as we turned the page she giggled at it. " Rosa Cline said.
