" It's a really good book that gives you a lot of information and it's got a lot of close up pictures of sharks if you don't know exactly how they do what they do. It literally shows inside the sharks. It shows you a lot of sharks' hiding places and overall it was just a really good book. " said.

"* Personal Reaction: I really enjoyed this book. I’m not a big fan of sharks but it was a very informative book. I like the used of real life pictures for readers to be able to see real features of sharks. There is a lot of fun facts about all kinds of sharks throughout this book.
* Read Aloud: This book could be used in many different units. If there was a unit over the ocean, food chain, or just sharks this book would be great. There is plenty of information that could be useful for any of these units.
* Independent Read: I think students in 4th to 6th grade would enjoy this book. There is a lot of interesting information that students could find really cool. Students could definitely use this book for a project for anyone of those units.
* I thought it was nice that the book highlights the words that are in the glossary that is in the back of the book. I also really liked that maps that are throughout the book. It is a nice visual for students to see what areas sharks can be found in.

"Personal Reaction:
I liked this book because I like sharks. The book features interesting facts about many different kinds of sharks and has a lot of real life pictures which I also like.

Purpose:
Read Aloud:
This is a book that I would read aloud if we were ever doing a unit on sharks, the ocean, the food chain and predators or carnivores. This book is pretty long and has a lot of words and information, so I think I would read just select passages from it aloud to the class and show them pictures.

Independent Reading:
I think a lot of students would like to read this book. This book has a lot of information and words in it so I would recommend it for students in grades 4 and up. It would also make a great book for reference if doing a research project on sharks or the ocean.

Nonfiction Conventions:
The book contains maps which are interesting to show what areas have what kind of shark population. The book also highlights key words that can be found in the back of the book in the glossary. The book has sidebars which help organize information and headings in bold.
