"The sinking of the Titanic, the ship dubbed "unsinkable," has long fascinated many, making its way into popular culture through films and books. This book highlights the adventures of oceanographer Robert Ballard who found the wrecked ship on the ocean floor 73 years after it sank. It also describes the efforts of filmmaker James Cameron to use actual footage of the wreckage in his blockbuster motion picture, Titanic. The book contains several photos of the wreckage and the technology used to explore the wreckage. Part of the Captured History: Science, the book will appeal to anyone with even a passing interest in the Titanic because of the images and brief accounting of the ship's encounter with an iceberg as well as speculation that there was a fire aboard the ship as well. Most likely, we'll never know the full story, but we can make guesses. One of the aspects of this book that intrigues me was the rusticles found on the ship and how bacteria had dined on the ship's iron. " said.
