" This book was read to us and the children by the author when we did a Calgary Reads volunteering event at a local school. " said.

" Cute and serviceable. Dare you to find another book about luge. " said.

" Unique premise of a lesser-known sport (at least here in Cleveland, Ohio). My preschooler and I enjoyed reading this book together, especially title character shares a name with her. " said.

"Part of a series called Lucy Tries Sports, this title is great for encouraging youngsters, especially girls, not to let their fears keep them from trying out a new sport. Lucy gets a new luge and decides to tackle the track. Young readers will appreciate the fact that she is a bit anxious at first, but with reassurance from her parents, she takes on this new sport. While she wears proper safety equipment, including a helmet, I felt worried that she raced down the icy track quickly, almost seemingly knowing instinctively how to position her body parts and tilt her head so she can see what's up ahead. I wish the book had shown her having a little bit more training. Still, it's great for young girls especially to have a role model such as Lucy, unafraid to try something new. " said.
