" I wasn’t personally thrilled by this book but I can see the appeal to young readers and loved that it was written by a real survivalist " said.

" More danger and drama can be found in the second survival story of this new middle grade series. This story is set on the ski slopes in Wyoming. Twin brother and sister recount their experience and survival techniques when they decide to explore an off beaten ski slope and get caught up in a colossal avalanche. " said.

" Terry Lynn Johnson's Survivor Diaries series is a thrilling and addictive series that aims to teach real life survivor skills through action-packed adventure.  Avalanche! had me hooked from page one and I really enjoyed Ashley and Ryan's harrowing and inspiring tale.  " said.

"Johnson has written another interesting survival story with this book about surviving an avalanche. Twins Ashley and Ryan separate from their parents while on vacation in Wyoming in order to visit a wolverine observation station. But as they traverse the hillside, an avalanche occurs sending them tumbling down the hill. After digging herself out, Ashley must save her brother and keep them both alive until rescuers arrive. The details are fascinating and the tips for survival are good ones. Additional resources and an online game add to the fun of the book.

"Well-written chapter book about a family vacation to Wyoming for skiing. The twins are strong skiers and are determined to find a wolverine off-trail. They have some avalanche training and this helps sister Ashley as an avalanche overtakes them one afternoon. Ryan is buried in deeper snow and Ash is able to dig him out.
The twins have to shelter on the mountain before starting out toward civilization. They encounter wild animals and attend to their injuries. Ashley finds she has strength and grit.
