" Some interesting history of the Boston Marathon. I didn't know women were not allowed to run until 1972.5/22/18 Read with Naomi & Julia " said.

" Very interesting! I'd heard of (and seen the famous picture of) Kathrine Switzer, but somehow never knew about Roberta Gibb. It's a really cool (and frustrating) story.I really liked the backmatter - the "what is a marathon," and the tips for becoming a runner. Hopefully some kids will be inspired to get out and get running! " said.

"Calkhoven and Dong have teamed up to write some of the other titles in this appealing series of easy to read biographies. Short chapters and easy to parse text that is almost conversational make this a good option for kids in grades 1-3 who are conducting biographical research. Back matter includes information on diet and exercise, the history of marathons, and the genesis of the Boston Marathon, although there is no bibliography. Wow, this is the second children's biography of Gibb this year so far!

I would have liked to see a bibliography added.
