" I received this through Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review. This is a standard children's nonfiction work, which describes the American Revolution. It provides a quick summary of a lengthy topic, covering more depth than most works of its kind. There is a strong focus on famous individuals of the time. It expresses what those individuals did during the war and after. " said.

"The only thing that I would change about this book is the title! I would prefer "the student guide to the..." or "anyone who wants to know more about..."

I loved this very clever and informative book. Krull does a masterful job of telling this historical period from start to finish, but what she excels in is adding information about women and ethnic minorities which are often omitted from "his"tory books. She also dispels age old myths and explains the facts around them. The pace is excellent, and I couldn't put the book down. I learned more from her book than I ever did from my US History classes about the American Revolution.

I would definitely recommend this book to any high school student who is studying this topic. Facts come to life, and the reader isn't bored as her pacing and inserts of related information lighten the topic. I think that middle school students would also like it, as well as adults of any age!
