" Wonderful picture book for introducing children to the history of the gay pride movement, and for representation of gay historical figures. It’s also great for teaching them that everyone deserves to be proud of who they really are. Loved the illustrations. " said.

" Great book. Great conversation. " said.

" I had a lot of fun reading this book with my son. It's very informative, and even includes extra information in the back. The illustrations are quite beautiful and bold! There are a lot of big concepts in here, so much of it might be lost on kids under 3 (but hey, still fun to look at). " said.

" This biography is a good length for a read aloud. Straight forward, if somewhat simple account of Harvey Milk’s role in the creation of the pride flag. " said.

"This is a beautiful book that focuses on positives rather than negatives. Harvey Milk is famous for saying "You have to give them hope," and that is the recurring theme in this book as this book is meant to give hope to the current and future generations. Steven Salerno's illustrations are marvelous. They bring the book to life and show the vivid spirit of the LGBTQ movement. The back of this book make it especially important as a nonfiction picture book because it gives not only great factual information, but provides a timeline of Harvey Milk's life as well as a timeline of the flag's life." said.

" This was interesting. I didn't know anything about the Rainbow Flag before reading it. It caught my eye in a book store, and as I'm trying to be more open-minded in the books I read, I picked it up. " said.

" Beautiful. I am so happy this book is written and will keep dreams alive. This book will share the hope of Harvey Milk and countless others. " said.

" Great introduction to Harvey Milk and his activism, the symbolism of the rainbow flag, and the gay pride movement. Anyone who says this book is inappropriate for schools (protests, assassination) should take a good, hard look at the fact that all of these topics are taught through the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. LOVE the informative back matter, which include timelines of both Milk’s life and that of the pride movement, as well as photos from various times in the history of the movement. " said.
