" PopSugar Challenge Notes ** i read this because it was supposed to be a book set in my hometown and i figured hey...my city's founder should count. but he spent 2 lines in houston so. ** REDACTED**..............i'm sorry " said.

" Well written historical fiction. This would be a good read for any Texas history class or as a supplement to American history. It gives another insight as to how the southerners were torn over secession and how politics can be a fickle wife. " said.

" I love Texas history. I am revisiting this book with my granddaughters. Sam Houston was such a colorful character and had such an interesting life. I think it is good to understand that our "heros" had strengths and problems. (Houston had a drinking problem.) We can appreciate them for their strengths and contributions but learn from their problems. Then maybe we can then do that with the people around us day to day. " said.

"Make Way for Sam Houston is Jean Fritz’s biographical look at the life of Houston, the famous politician and statesman. The book gives a general overview of Houston’s life, from his birth in 1793 to his death seventy years later. the book gives more of an overall look at Houston’s career and character and the effects that he had on history.

i do not think this book would be interesting to young readers, i did not find him interesting at all. the only way i think children would find this book interesting was if they were learning about him in history class. im not sure if children would relate to him. he might relate to the students who are interested in history. All the information i know was in the book and was accurate. the book was not very engaging and i found it kind of boring. i found it hard to even finish it.

i honestly did not like this book, i found it very boring. I never really liked history class and did not think it was interesting. I would not use this book in my classroom because if i found it boring im sure children would too.

" I picked up this biography because it was on my library's ready-to-delete list and because i was born at Fort Sam Houston. I think this is a great biography for middle grades. Jean Fritz tells the story of Sam Houston, simply and with humor and style . I really enjoyed this quick read. And hopefully I saved it from the weeding pile! " said.
