" A cleverly written, well illustrated and funny modern fairytale. I would only recommend this to children 8 years old and above....it's usually at that age that they start reasoning and have an understanding that characters in books are not always flat, but multi-dimensional. This is the first picture book that I have come across that delivers the message about being self-sufficient. Well done Jan! " said.

" A Little Red Hen story with a Big Bad Wolf ending. Ok. I did like how the Wolf worked on skills himself - nobody would help him, so he had to read the recipe, count the money, and go to the store by himself. Doing the tasks himself took concentration and time, but he did succeed with making the pancake all by himself. Good little lesson on patience. " said.

"An entertaining book that revisits the wolf but with a twist. Here, he's trying to make pancakes and goes to his neighbours (chicken little, the gingerbread man, red riding hood, the three little pigs) for help in reading the recipe, buying the ingredients, etc. But they refuse to help him and he has to do everything himself.

But when the pancakes are made and the neighbours rudely ask him to share the pancakes with them, what is a wolf to do but invite them in and...ah, but that would be telling.

The drawings in the book are equally entertaining, with little in-jokes (like a house that looks like a shoe) that keep you looking at them, but don't let them distract you from telling this funny story to your kids.

" Mr Wolf, who is portrayed as a good character, has a craving for pancakes however, he is helpless when it comes to reading and counting which makes it tricky for him to make his dish. The story features other characters from traditional tales and puts a twist in the plot, even I was surprised! " said.
