" I was drawn to this book because many of the boys in classes I teach yearn for more books about sports. After reading it (and enjoying it!) I can't wait for April 1st so I can add it to my class library. This books is informative, has quality graphics and I recommend it for anyone who wants to learn the basics of basketball in an engaging way!Note: I recieved this book for free in exchange for an honest review. "I received this ARC via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

The sports fans in my classroom would love this book. The graphics are engaging and interesting. The facts are presented in a way that will be easy for students to understand. The graphics comparing heights were especially helpful - extra point for including Muggsy!

I like that information was not only presented about teams, championships, viewers, and so on, but the basics were covered as well - how basketball came about, and descriptions of the positions. I do like that in the high school sections it was pointed out how many players are actually able to go pro. This is a hard thing for a lot of kids from my school who see sports as a way out of their neighborhoods. We certainly don't want to discourage them from their sports, but we also want them to understand the work required, because going pro is a tough thing to do.

March Madness is my favorite time of year and I love that info was included about this (though as a Dukie, let me point out that Coach K now has FIVE titles!) However, information was included regarding girls' high school basketball, and the WNBA, but nothing about women's basketball in college. UConn and Geno Auriemma would not be pleased - and is Geno really someone you want annoyed at you? I kid. But seriously, the guy is kind of scary.

I would add this one to my classroom library for sure, we love books about sports!
